Longham Lakes, Ferndown offers a great place to walk your dog. I would suggest parking at Haskins Garden Centre. If you walk past Hobby Craft a short way along Ham Lane there is a gravel road on your left after the slip road. Walk up here and there is an entrance to the lakes. Alternatively walk along Ringwood Road just past the garage on your left and there is a small road that also leads up to the lakes or continue along the Ringwood Road and the main entrance is a little further along on the right.
There is a choice of
(a) a walk of 1 mile round the smaller lake using the level gravel path
(b) a walk of 2 miles round both the lakes using the level gravel path.
The Water Company reservoirs at Longham provide a wonderful local amenity and the opportunity for residents to enjoy a very interesting walk along the footpaths around the lakes. We are told that 130+ species of birds have been identified at the site.
