Fun Dog Agility

Fun Dog Agility

Welcome to Four Paws Dorset’s new Fun Dog Agility classes.

Agility is a great activity for all breeds of Dog, as while learning to use the equipment your dog is also using his or her brain. Mental stimulation is so important, especially for working breeds.

Not only does Agility mentally challenge both you and your dog, it also strengthens the bond of mutual trust and understanding between you whilst being great fun and rewarding.

No experience is necessary!

Things you need to bring.

Your dog should be wearing a flat collar and lead. (No choke, half choke or choke chains please).

You will need to bring some tasty treats cut into pea size pieces. Preferably something soft and easy for your dog to swallow quickly, such as cheese, cooked sausage, chicken or liver (recipe for liver cake to follow).

Please don’t feed your dog before the class as he or she won’t feel like being active on a full stomach or interested in treats! Even worse your dog could suffer from bloat (which can be fatal).

A favourite toy is an acceptable alternative but no squeaky ones please as this can distract the other dogs in the class.

Listed below are the pieces of equipment I use and the commands for our dogs for each item. You need to decide on a word for each and be consistent to avoid confusing your dog.
