I have always enjoyed this dog walk as it follows the path through the Allotments at Cuthbury and along beside the River Stour and a wonderful walk that follows the river through open fields (which the dogs love to run in), past Eye Bridge and beyond. Max is in the picture. Max particularly enjoys this walk as he discovers lots of new smells, he can run in the fields and we always meet other doggies to say hello too!
But now the Allotment lies silent. Abandoned. Just waiting for the bulldozers to do their job. Gone are the cheery band of men and women who spent many a happy hour planting and growing there wonderful vegetables, fruits and flowers. Gone is the sound of chatter and birds. I spoke to one gentleman a couple of months ago, whilst he was clearing what he could from his allotment. He told me that he had worked on his plot for over 20 years and was very sad to have to leave it.
I know it’s all in the name of progress but for some it’s a massive part of there life gone forever. For them it’s been their enjoyment, relaxation and special time. A chance to chat and share knowledge with friends and feel proud of their achievements.
Wimborne has lost a special place!
I think all dog owners will smile at this! My Ella is never far away when there is food being prepared.
This week I definitely think Archie deserved to be Star Dog! Archie had his first visit to the Dog Groomers! A little sad that all his puppy curls have gone but Archie you’re growing up!
It’s a really good idea if your puppy is a breed that will need regular trims to start visiting your chosen Dog Groomers as early as possible. This will help your puppy to become familiar with the environment and then he or she will be relaxed and confident when going for their grooming.
If you are local to Wimborne follow the link to (The Original) Posh Paws Dog Groomers. I can personally recommend them!
While out on my dog walk with Max yesterday I met this amazing young black Labrador with his trainer. I asked her about him and she said he was just starting his training and when ready would be an assistance dog for a disable person. Visit the Website using the link and read about the amazing work this organisation does for local disabled people in living Dorset!
Not forgetting to mention Max was really gentle and friendly with this puppy. Very pleased to see the results of our training together! Max you’re a Star!
Millie’s owner Norman was having a day out to Bath and asked me to look after Millie.
I popped in throughout the day. We had 3 short walks and I spent time with Millie in her home. Lunch and Dinner given, water bowl topped up and now here is Millie happy and relaxed! What a Star!!
I live in Wimborne and have known Fran for about 4 years now. We sometimes chat when I see her out walking her dog Ella. Joey is my 2 year old Border Terrier who is my wonderful companion. I was doing well with training Joey but then I started having problems with getting him to come back to me when of the lead and especially when there were other dogs around.
I asked Fran if she could teach me how to get Joey to come when I call him. She did and it worked straight away. I have not had a problem since and I feel very confident now to let him off his lead whenever I want to. We now enjoy our walks again as I know Joey will always come to me when I want him to.
Thank you very much Fran. Morris.

I can highly recommend Lucy Richards to design your Website. Lucy is very professional and her advice and support has been fantastic!
A huge ‘thank you’ Lucy for designing my Website ‘Four Paws Dorset’. I just love it!
Awesome dog walk today with Max who loves looking out from the bridge. “Aunty Fran keeps me on the lead over the bridge just in case I decide to join the Moorhens below!” We started out from Redcotts Park, Wimborne and proceeded along the River Stour to Eye Bridge. We always meet other dogs when we are out walking which is great for Max. There is a car park at Eye Bridge and from there you can do a circular walk or even venture a little further up to Bluebell Woods, Pamphill, National Trust and dog friendly! Pamphill Tea Rooms and Farm Shop are well worth a visit too! Look out on your river walk for Kingfishers, Little Egrets and Swans just to mention a few.
