Cat on our dog walk today at Poor Common, Nr Ferndown, Wimborne!

First walk of the New Year with Archie and we meet this cat looking very defensive next to the sign at one of the entrances to Poor Common. Archie was taken by surprise but walked right past after a few moments of consideration!

Testimonial from Margaret

I was having a behavioural problem with one of my two lovely dogs. A friend highly recommended Frances, who was helping her with her dog.

From the outset Frances connected with both my dogs and was very supportive, finally solving our problems.

Throughout I found her to be totally trustworthy. She has a key to my home and has become a friend. Her enthusiasm and knowledge makes her a person I highly recommend.

Dog walk today along the River Stour, Wimborne

Had a great dog walk with Rudy today along the River Stour, Wimborne. The sun was shining and Rudy had lots of fun running about and sniffing all the smells! We met several other dogs including an adorable Cocker Spaniel puppy out for his 2nd walk. Rudy realised he was a puppy and was very sweet and gentle with him.

Well done Rudy!

Warning to dog owners after pet caught in snare at Slades Farm!

Warning to dog owners after pet caught in snare at Slades Farm!

DOG-owners have warned others about a popular walking spot after a dog was caught in a snare.

Paul Mathers, of Southbourne, took to social media to inform fellow canine lovers about Slades Farm where his friend’s dog was caught in a wire snare on Tuesday.
Humey, a two-year-old husky owned by Winton man Simon, wasn’t injured by the trap, which is usually used to catch small game.
It is not known if it was put there intentionally to hurt any dogs.

Mr Mathers, who owns Humey’s sister Dakota, said thankfully a woman who lived nearby was able to nip home and get some cutters to free her.

“Luckily that old lady was there who lived at the farm.

“If it wasn’t for her God knows what would have happened,” he said.

“We go walking every weekend with our dogs. You read all these stories all the time and you think it’s about scare mongering but when I found out about this I was shocked.

“Police have been called so hopefully they will have a warning out. It’s a disgrace that people are doing this in this day and age. She’s ok in herself, a little shook up but no cuts.

“She was rummaging around but if she’d been running it could have done a lot more damage.”

A Dorset Police spokesman said they’d received a call from a member of the public about several snares in a wooded area but didn’t find any.

“Police received a report from a member of the public of snares being discovered in a wooded area near to Ensbury Avenue,” he said.

“Officers have searched the area and nothing was found.

“It is unusual to find snares, but we would advise the public and particularly dog walkers to remain vigilant and report any instances to police on 101.”
