This week’s dog walk of the week is Longham Resevoir. There are two large lakes to walk round. Dogs have to be on the lead but I don’t think this spoils their enjoyment. I use long leads which give the dogs plenty of scope and they can still have a great sniff around. Also, ideal for lead training in a safe pleasant environment.
For the bird lovers amongst you I was lucky enough to see a Kingfisher fly from one lake to the other. They always take my breath away with their beautiful colour. The blue is so bright! Other regular visitors just to mention a few include Grebes, Cormorants and Coots.
Longham Lakes is close to Bournemouth, in Dorset, UK. It lies between Ferndown and the main Poole/Bournemouth conurbation, adjacent to where the A348 crosses the River Stour. The site is owned and managed by Sembcorp Bournemouth Water.
Well worth a visit!
