I have always enjoyed this dog walk as it follows the path through the Allotments at Cuthbury and along beside the River Stour and a wonderful walk that follows the river through open fields (which the dogs love to run in), past Eye Bridge and beyond. Max is in the picture. Max particularly enjoys this walk as he discovers lots of new smells, he can run in the fields and we always meet other doggies to say hello too!
But now the Allotment lies silent. Abandoned. Just waiting for the bulldozers to do their job. Gone are the cheery band of men and women who spent many a happy hour planting and growing there wonderful vegetables, fruits and flowers. Gone is the sound of chatter and birds. I spoke to one gentleman a couple of months ago, whilst he was clearing what he could from his allotment. He told me that he had worked on his plot for over 20 years and was very sad to have to leave it.
I know it’s all in the name of progress but for some it’s a massive part of there life gone forever. For them it’s been their enjoyment, relaxation and special time. A chance to chat and share knowledge with friends and feel proud of their achievements.
Wimborne has lost a special place!
