HAPPY THURSDAY! Four Paws Dorset dog Willow thoroughly enjoyed our dog walk today. Our walk took us through the park (Willow’s favourite toilet stop!) and then on to the woods before returning through the town. This photo is from a few weeks ago but Willow is on the same tree trunk and I managed to get this photo of her today! Such a happy girl ‘look at me!’. Willow has her long lead on for safety as there was a road nearby.
I am working closely with Willow’s owner who is a wonderful lady. We are training Willow to become her Therapy Dog. During each of my visits Willow has a good walk first and during these walks we visit the town. This outside training includes heel work, helping Willow keep her attention on what we are doing, staying relaxed, happy and working on increasing her confidence with everyday sounds and general town life.
On our return we did some Therapy Training. Willow’s training is reward based and includes lots of praise and encouragement. I am so impressed with both Willow and her owner! Next week we will be sending a Video in (to be assessed by the Therapy Team) showing what Willow has learn and can do so far. This is for her Bronze Award and is very exciting!
Willow you are a total Star!
